Apple announced the launch of their new online streaming video services for movies and tv, called Apple TV+, and will also include subscription options for magazines, newspapers and websites behind a paywall, making the media experience a simpler one stop shop.
With plans to offer their own video content, Apple is competing with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, among other streaming video services, and has partnered with some of Hollywood’s prestigious entertainers, including Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.
Apple’s pricing details aren’t certain yet, but their new service may be close to Netflix’s pricing at $9.99/mo, if not a little less, depending on the bundled services.
Although Cupertino’s Apple TV+ launch is today, March 25, the subscription services are expected to start in late summer or early fall of 2019.
Apple also plans to launch an iOS game streaming service, another trend Apple is capitalizing on as they offer a new model of game play.
