Epic Games, the creator of the popular Fortnite game with character dance moves, or emotes, laughs at rapper 2 Milly, who claims his dance move was used without his consent.
Epic Games lawyers respond to the claim and others, stating that they’ll need to make better arguments, and that dance moves are not subject to copyright laws.
“No on can own a dance step,” responded Epic, “individual dance steps and simple dance routines are not protected by copyright.”
According to intellectual property attorney, Sam P. Israel, 2 Willy’s legal team can make a better argument, by treating the dance move as a language or musical note.
Epic Games, is also being sued by others over alleged copyright infringement, so this isn’t the only battle they’re engaging in.
